A small group of mysterious Japanese men test various forms of torture on a young woman to see how much pain the human body can take before it gives up and dies.
Satoru Ogura is more well known for his producer credits which includes such movies as The Shadow Spirit, Hard Luck Hero, Princess Raccoon, all six entries into the Guinea Pig Series, and even produced Lucky Sky Diamond, which has been mistaken many times for being the missing entry into the Guinea Pig Series.
But even though Ogura is responsible for producing the controversial film series, he took it upon himself to also write & direct the first installment which was known as ‘The Devils Experiment’.
It is rumored that Ogura once received a package in the mail that contained a VHS cassette labeled ‘Guinea Pig’ along with some stills. The stills showed images of three masked men torturing and killing a young woman, and The VHS tape showed the whole ordeal. After viewing the contents of the VHS tape, Ogura reported the incident to the police, who confiscated the tape and the stills and began an investigation.
Whether this rumor proves to be true or not is neither here nor there, as the mystery surrounding it is what helps to build the jumping off point for ‘The Devils Experiment’.
In an attempt to make this seem more like a snuff movie, Unearthed Films went as far as to put on the back of the cover ‘Production, Year, Staff and Cast have not been credited because this was secretly filmed by an unknown person’.
The Devils Experiment begins unlike most movies, and does not have a lavish title sequence. Instead it has slow scrolling text which explains to the viewer that what they are about to see is the unadulterated snuff film in all of it’s glory.
