Is Nuclear Energy Beneficial For Mankind An Argumentative Resarch Paper...

1226 words - 5 pages

Nuclear energy is the world's largest source of emission-free energy which is produced by nuclear reactions.Today, nuclear energy is the world's largest source of emission-free energy. Nuclear power plants produce no controlled air pollutants, such as sulphur or greenhouse gases. The use of nuclear energy in place of other energy sources helps to keep the air clean, because there isn't any harmful output after a nuclear reaction. Nuclear energy also avoids ground-level ozone formation and prevent acid rain The amount of energy which is produced in nuclear power plants is extremely high and it is not easy to see that nuclear energy also reduces the dependence on imported oil and that is why it is totally beneficial for the economy of a country. In addition, nuclear power is totally safe and reliable if we take a look at today's technological improvements about this branch.Nuclear energy is used for things such as atomic bombs, hydrogen bombs and other nuclear weapons. Nuclear energy can also be used for powering electricity-generating plants all over the world.Environmental Protection:If we compare nuclear energy with all other energy sources like petrol or coal, it is easy to see that nuclear energy does not have any significant effects to water land, air and wildlife and is it environmentally beneficial for mankind.According to a research by Nuclear Energy Institute in USA, nuclear power plants do not emit harmful gases like carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Researches made by Massachusetts Institute of Technology shows that nuclear power plants reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 90 percent in USA. The situation is also similar in other developed countries. Harmful gases, which are emitted by other power plants like thermal plants, which use coal or oil as a source, cause greenhouse effect and acid rains. Greenhouse effect, which is known as global temperature warming, is the most dangerous impact of coal plants and oil plants. It changes the average temperature of atmosphere and this causes an imbalance in the environment. In this way acid rains which do sulphur oxides form and carbon oxides have great effects on the environment. They destroy all living things on the earth. Nuclear energy does not have any effects like those. There are some many countries like France of USA on the world which produce most of their electricity from nuclear power plant using nuclear energy. According to Turkish Nuclear Institute, those power plants all over the world avoid the emission of 2300 million tons of carbondioxide, 42 million tons of sulfurdioxide and 9 million tons of nitrogen oxides in a year. So that, nuclear energy is the most eco-efficient of all energy sources because it produces the most electricity in relation to its minimal environmental impact. At this point we understand that nuclear energy and nuclear power plants give the minimum harm to the nature and mankind and all the people and also the nature benefits from...

Nuclear Energy Is an Answer to Global Warming

1204 words - 5 pages Global Warming is and has been an on going issue throughout the world for many years. One of the many questions brought from it is, 'Is nuclear energy the answer to global warming?'Nuclear power plants use the heat given off during fission as fuel. Fission takes place inside the reactor of a nuclear power plant, where it generates heat. The heat is used to boil water into steam. The steam turns huge turbine blades and as they turn, they drive

Going through this experience with my friend is what brought me to argue pro-life.The biblical argument against abortion is a little tricky. The Bible doesn't say anything about

The Argument For Nuclear Energy

1713 words - 7 pages importance of designing reactors to withstand any events they are likely to encounter. But it is impossible to imagine all of the risks. Waste disposal, safe operation and security remain major concerns, but economics may be the biggest deterrent. Huge capital costs combine into an enormous price tag for would-be investors. Especially to the nuclear energy field, the economy and the environment must be both considered. Particularly uranium costs around

Nuclear Energy is a dangerous distraction

1298 words - 6 pages uses of nuclear energy, however, are still not applicable. Firstly, this is due to the high cost required for its investment. Secondly, it is affecting the international relationships all around the world. Lastly, it produces highly hazardous waste products, especially radiation. Nuclear energy is an unclean, non-renewable, expensive and dangerous energy resource. Nuclear energy requires high cost for its investment, thus it is considered a very

Nuclear Energy; How Safe is It?

1378 words - 6 pages March 11, 2011 an earthquake of 9.0 magnitude struck and caused a tsunami that led to the meltdown of three reactors at Japans Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Hundreds of thousands of people found themselves victim of contamination from one of the worst environmental disasters in history. So, how can Nuclear Energy be safe, this is just one of many accidents to happen whether it is by natural disaster or human error nuclear energy is not safe. It

Nuclear Energy is Safe and Clean

2576 words - 10 pages -fired plants also release tons of sulfur and carbon into the air. Another advantage is that a lot of energy is produced in the process and that water remains being the most compact source. It is easy to transport as new fuel and it does not have any acid rain or greenhouse effects. Some disadvantages include that it is very expensive to find an area to contain the waste and storage systems for the fuel. There is always a chance of nuclear

Advantages of Nuclear Fusion for Energy

768 words - 3 pages deuterium-tritium reaction is 2H + 3H = 4H + energy. This means deuterium plus tritium equals an isotope with four neutrons and energy. The 4H is an alpha particle. Other common reactions include D + D, deuterium plus deuterium, T + T, tritium plus tritium, and D + 3HE, deuterium plus helium isotope with three neutrons. These combinations also include very light elements. Lawson’s criterion is a group of requirements for nuclear fusion

Nuclear Power: Energy for the Future

1247 words - 5 pages reaction. Nuclear fission is, “an extremely complex nuclear reaction representing a cataclysmic division of an atomic nucleus into two nuclei of comparable mass. This rearrangement or division of a heavy nucleus may take place naturally (spontaneous fission) or under bombardment with neutrons, charged particles, gamma rays, or other carriers of energy (induced fission)” (Huizenga). The later is used in nuclear reactors. To allow nuclear fission
