In this 21st Century the growing trend is to change how you look to be accepted in this society. While most feel to need to say its ok to do this, is it really acceptable? Especially on our younger society, who looks up to everyone that alters themselves to somehow reach the unreachable idea of perfection. The more people decide to alter themselves to reach perfection or to "fit in,” The more we are teaching our children that Hey! Its ok to not love who you are, You should change to meet everyone else's standards.” Plastic Surgery gives Children a false sense of self image in society.

Receiving botox too close to the eyes can cause temporary or even permanent blindness. plastic surgery can even cost you your life. Not from the surgery itself but from the procedure that you go through to have it. In most cases when plastic surgery is performed you have to go under anesthetics. They drug you for the hours that the surgery is being performed, and in some cases to much of the drug is given and you don’t wake up. So while your body might be flawless and your face might be gorgeous you won’t be able to enjoy it if you never wake up to see it. Now imagine possibly losing your child because they want a new nose.
In 2012 more than 236,000 cosmetic surgeries were performed on children between the ages of 13 and 19. For nose reshaping, tummy tucks liposuction and breast lifts more than 75,000 surgeries were performed(Zuckerman). This is a very large number for children's bodies who aren't done developing to their final stage. Studies show that the ages 11-18 find that they are more satisfied with their bodies at the age of 18 then at their younger ages(Zuckerman). Simply saying that after they get through puberty and through their teenage years they love what they become because they gave themselves time to develop.
