Looking past the possible patent royalties is a good first step. What then does a patent mean here beyond that? Well, what it means is that whatever you have made you can continue to make without someone patenting what you have done and charging YOU royalties.
Recapping these tables seeks to do three things;

2) Says to the reader, here is an idea that if acted on by us, we would not want to be charged royalties
so we ought to seek patent protection for that reason.

To facilitate quick reading, one may skip to 'Part II Product Concept and Work Components' to get
a first glimpse of the envisioned device.
As depicted in Part II the handheld device is extraordinarily flexible and powerful. One of its outstanding capabilities to be decided upon is whether it will work using existing 2G networks as well
as the new high-bandwidth networks and devices. That it doubles as a mobile unit AND a stationary base station processing video and other feeds while it recharges its batteries speaks to solve real world practical problems as battery recharge issues do affects mobile users and can be moderated and handled.
And so, the first task for an engineer to do is to determine whether the device in Part II can be built within
the general size of the Kyrocera format, a manageable cost, in reasonable time AND be as adaptively as
indicated. This means that a person buying a device in a covered area can get some use of the device
in an uncovered area and then smoothly switch back to the other 'big pipe' mode when the person goes to
the covered area. If this device can be built to these criteria, it becomes a marketing issue whether it should be built. In either case, analysis can proceed without knowing the answer to this engineering and
subsequent marketing question. This means an expanded number of units as well making cost a factor
early. One needs a unit to operate one's house as well as a mobile unit that exchange for eachother.
However, the first prototype need not be this very flexible and powerful device. The proof of concept goes
