LJigger could not believe that Matthew would harm Carla, and agreeing with what Dr. Dabila had said about it being the fact that he was under a spell and was unable to do anything about attacking her. Carla knew this too, but still she had doubts, unsure if she could ever trust him being around her daughter, without lashing out if, things did not go his way.
Carla noticed Jigger’s usual happy personality was not around. He spoke like a man who had wisdom, and was accustomed to the kingdoms around, rather than a man who would annoy people with his vile taunts, which in turn would cause a brawl, and the fighting would begin, with or without the help of a sword.
Losing his best friend, Pig Face had hit him hard. As much as they rubbed each other the wrong way, they were the best of friends. Always up to no good. The undesirables of the union, as the councillors would say, when they would time and time again, be up in front of the courts for causing unnecessary mayhem in the kingdoms in which they had visited. Wine or cider was always the cause for this, and on each vow, they gave, they promised they would never touch a drop, then they would celebrate with a glass of ale or two, as soon as they were free to leave the courts.
On the plus side of these two men, were their fighting skills. How they fought headstrong. They were not ones to take an order without pulling a face, and sometimes not seeing the order through. Nevertheless, when they did agree and fight side by side with their comrades, they fought hard; defending as much as striking with a sword, and carrying away the wounded if they were able to, before continuing their warfare. Now what would he do? His best friend was no longer of this world, and he felt alone. He had alienated himself from the rest of the union, upsetting the fold with his obscene behaviour, and callous ways. He did not want to be a baby and be cradled by the union, he still wanted to be the person he was and always had been, but he knew that it would not hold up on his own. He could not be Jigger who had a friend to stick up for him if he’d gone over the line. He needed to make a change to his life, and as hard as he knew it would be, he knew it was a choice he had no ruling over.
Their main action was to take Alison up to Queen Belinthia’s chamber, away from Zantha, so that she was safe. Carla knew Robert and the other young warriors would protect her, if Zantha escaped and attempted to take her life, while Carla and the others were unable to get to her quickly.
However, Alison was not allowing it, begging her mum for her to let her assist Amir, to help in any which way she could.
“Zantha is on the war path. It is not a computer game that you can replay, if you die and attempt the challenge again,” Carla snapped.
“No idea what Carla was saying, but I agree. It’s dangerous; you’re too young to be watching things like this,” Jigger agreed, as he looked at Carla as to what to do.
“I can cope, I’ve seen worse,” Alison...
