This paper was focused on student governance bodies in postsecondary institution. Student leadership development is regarded as a priority at current higher education institutions (Boatman, 1999; Astin & Astin, 2000; Robert, 2003b). From the study, the researcher found that the relationship between student government with campus offices and administrators was horrible. Therefore, the study was to determine how college students perceived their role in student governance at their higher education institution.

Besides, they took part in activities such as meeting with advisors, designing new student government logos and revising the student government websites. They engaged with those activities so that the information was being shared with the student body. In addition, civic responsibility and community service is also important. Organizational wanted students to be involved with the community, understand the importance of service and to make student government a transparent organization.
Lastly, cultivating leadership is helping others develop their leadership skills by taking the initiative and lead other students. Students take the initiative to involve and participate in student government and in the institution, through this can help them to build up good relationship with other students.
Discussion and Recommendations
The students being interviewed in this study identified three themes, which included change, organizational responsibility and cultivating leadership. They viewed change as positive and necessary. Besides, the student government presidents also felt that they were responsible to represent their organizations and the students. Eventually, the students wanted to set up leadership opportunities for their fellow students and they wanted others to feel involved.
The existing institutions of higher education require determining the needs and interests of their students. However, individual, one area or department cannot be responsible in maintaining the growth and innovation of students’ project and development. Whereas, institutions as a whole must become active in developing and improving leadership skills in the student body and system must be built in to support student growth.
The development of leadership skills is considered to be an ideal result of university education. Institutions must decide what exactly their goals are for students. If colleges and universities want students to emerge from the college years as involved citizens and strong leaders, the mission of educating leaders must be built into all aspects of an institution.
Besides, institution should train up students’ self-confidence and high energy. Self-confidence indicates the students’ self-assured in judgments, decision making, ideas and capabilities. Leaders display self-assurance about their abilities and foster confidence among followers. Moreover, high energy also need in a leader characteristic. Leaders have to work hard, stamina, enthusiasm, and tolerate stress well in order to achieve goals.
