The ABCs of Music: Definition of Terminologies and Descriptions
Staff: This is made up of 5 horizontal lines and 4 spaces/

There are two types of meter: the simple and the compound. The upper numbers in simple meter are: 2, 3, 4 or measured at 2/4, ¾, 4/4, whereas, in compound meter, the upper numbers are 6, 9 and 12 or 6/8, 9/8 and 12/8.
Intervals
When one speaks of interval, it refers to the distance between 2 notes. Intervals can be categorized as major, minor, perfect, augmented and diminished. Unisons, seconds and so on are terms referring to the size of intervals.
Augmented: A major interval raise by half or a perfect interval lowered by half.
Minor: A major interval lowered by half
Diminished: A minor interval lowered by half or a perfect interval lowered by half
By principle, a major can become a minor and the other way around. Likewise, augmented interval can become diminished and otherwise. Meanwhile perfect interval remains perfect.
