All the experiences we have gained, decisions we have made, every event in our life, each circumstance, all of the people we have encountered and all the lessons we have learned have led us up to where we are now. The past is in every turn we make. We can't escape it, but we can learn from it and use those lessons learned in the past to change our present and future.Why would we want to change our present? The first thing I can think of is that we are not happy with it, and we just need to turn our necks 90 degrees to find the felon: our past. The bad decisions and wrong turns we made led us here. We are lucky we remember the embarrassing, happy and bad moments we have gone thru, now thanks to all these events we have sort of an Associate's Degree in maturity accredited by all the lessons we learned, and that will help us to identify mistakes, people, places, and circumstances to avoid in our present.We can find an example of this in Speedy a gang member from the book Tattoos on the Heart by Gregory Boyle.
