Thesis: Edgar Allen Poe was an American poet, writer, editor, critic shorty story writer, thrill seeker and he influenced many great writers and poets, some have made award winning movies off of the stories they have written and continue to do just that.
Introduction: Edgar spent many years writing and learning about American literature. He loved to just write that’s why he did so many different things in the writing profession. He influenced many famous writers etc. so he’s a very influential man and his name lives on as a legend
Paragraph 1: Edgar Allen Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts (January 19, 1809-October 7, 1849) He had a sister (Rosalie) and a brother (Henry) his parents were David and Elizabeth Poe, his mom died in 1811 and his dad went to live with his grandparents while Edgar was adopted by his “god father” John Allan and his wife, they had no children.
Paragraph 2: When Edgar was 6 he went to live in England and there he went to school for 5 years. He later returned to America in 1826 and attended the University of Virginia. Even though his dad had plenty of money he only gave Edgar about a 3rd of what he needed. Edgar soon went into debit and began heavy drinking and gambling, he quit school less than a year.
Paragraph 3: He went to Boston where he published a pamphlet of youngful Byronic poems, “Tanner lane” and others
Paragraph 1: Edgar had no money and no job skills so he decided to go to the U.S Army he did fairly well, he retained rank as sergeant major and they changed his named from Edgar Allan Poe to Edgar Allan Perry, after his foster mom died John Allan purchased his release and singed his applicant to west point before beginning in the military he wrote “Al Aaraaf” and minor poems (1829)
Paragraph 2: 1830, While waiting to enter west point he went to live with his grandmother, brother Henry, and aunt Mrs. Clemm and young cousin Virginia, Edgar entered as a cadet but he didn’t stay long because John stopped sending him money and he was purposely breaking the rules and ignored his duties, he did it so he would be dismissed
Paragraph 3: 1831, Edgar now decides to go to New York where he started writing stories and sending them in to multiple magazines, they were all rejected. He had no...
