Macbeth, 1605 drama play was directed by Will O’Hare and written by William Shakespeare (who inscribed thirty-seven plays and hundred fifty-four sonnets during his time era) starring Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, The Three Witches, Banquo, King Duncan, Macduff and Malcolm. Macbeth is based on actual events that occurred in the 11th century which took place in two countries known as Scotland and England. Macbeth plays a vicious role in this enthralling play to seek power for the satisfaction of his inner desire by killing his own group of people to fulfill the prophecy told by the wicked witches. Macbeth soon finds out that violence leads to more violence and soon he is feared by others that the prophecy has come true and it is now time to give up his throne. In this play Macbeth overcomes several obstacles however they still lead him to destruction in the end.
Macbeth is loosely based on actual events that happened before the play was written. The real Macbeth ruled Scotland from 1040-1057. Macbeth did overthrow Duncan, and after his death Macbeth was elected as king of Scotland and soon Malcolm (Duncan’s son) become king because Macbeth could not comprehend to be a ruler. This drama is said to be one of the greatest tragedy theme plays written by Shakespeare. Macbeth who has fought in a victorious battle between Scotland and Norway confronts three witches; the witches predict that he will one day become king. In order to achieve the prophecy he makes a plan to kill Duncan; the former king. His wife, Lady Macbeth agrees to the plan and they both murder Duncan in his sleep and blame the cruel murder on Duncan’s chamberlains. The crown is then passed to Macbeth. Macbeth kills several more people to pursue the prophecy and the ghost of Banquo (Macbeth’s partner) comes to haunt him. Lady Macbeth’s conscious tortures her and she commits suicide. Macduff kills Macbeth and Malcolm, the son of Duncan becomes king.
The main characters in the play are Macbeth played by Paul Kit; he is the main character who kills Duncan so that he can be king. Lady Macbeth played by Meaghan Quinn; she pushes Macbeth to murder
Duncan, but her guilt drives her insane and she later commits suicide. Duncan played by Tim Walker; he is the king of Scotland, who is murdered by Macbeth. Malcolm played by John Fleming; he is Duncan’s older son; he is the ideal, and rightful king of Scotland. The characters in the play did a tremendous job in acting all of these roles, but many characters were given several roles which confused the audience. Other than that all of the characters worked extremely hard to accomplish the play as if they were the actual characters stressed by this situation. The costumes were also well done it was appropriate for that condition, the costumes relate to the era of when the play takes place.
