Major Project Proposal Essay

PRODUCERS STATEMENT:

Reviewing my tenure at the university I have yet to produce a short film in its enterity. Of course I have helped others
with outside productions like Oliver Twist 2012. However my role was more of a director and senior member of the
team. While I did invest in the production it is wholly owned by another member of the group.

Over the years I have contributed towards the organisation of other projects in assocaition with Dr. Wendy Moody for several of the graduation fashion shows and most notebly the NSPCC and Childline Charity Show where we raised over £6'000 in one night. Again, I judge that as part of a team effortn and not a sole attempt to produce a fictional ...view middle of the document...

I shall be writing to request filming permission from the 2 local bus operators, Stagecoach and Whippet for the bus
scene. Items such as wedding and engagement rings are accounted for already as is the large mirror. Fortunately, I
have ben able to secure some funds for this production and will be looking to get the most competitively priced tracks
for the bedroom scene. I have acquired the mobility scooter for the character Bridgette Bellows known as “BB”.

I have placed an advertisement in Casting for the talnt required for th production and I will place more at the
university. I shall speak to several different associates to gauge any interest from their friends and aquantainces. I will consult with other filmmakers and media enthusaites to try to find the correct personnel. I shall exhaust other possible avenues to locate and attract actors and models.

This is a truly rare opportunity to take on three very different roles.

DIRECTORS STATEMENT 400-600 words:

I think this project has bite, it is notn a subjct that has been explored extensively. So in looking for new and exciting
films it was discussed and agreed with the university that I should tackle this largely unknown topic.. I like subjects
were the outcome is not so easily anticipated by the audience. I wanted to direct this because I could already see the
visual aesthetics while writing the script. Some areas of the narrative were modify to enhance the look and approach
to the end product.

This is a unique opporunity as a director to really embrace the story by fusing “First Person” or Point of View
filmmaking technique with a subject that has yet to be addressed visually. The 2 areas compelled to exercise all that
I have learnt over the 5 years at the university and outside into bring this tale to life.

I see the Major Project as a hybrid of previous subjects I have already tackled both major factors in this film be it
that both were short documentaries. The first, T-Birds (2010), a 5 minutes documentary explored the interesting and alternative world of Transgender diminishing myth and concentrating on the facts. It was a very informative
exploration into the psyche of these men and their daily struggle trapped as a woman in a man's body.

The other, Defiance (2009) about a mature lady with Cerbal Palsy and Multi Scoliosis and her fight to
maintain her home and more importantly her dignity and freedom. It was an extraordinary story considering that the
doctors treating her as a baby informed her parents that Jo had a life threatening diseases and that in their medical
opinion and professional capacity the...
