AbstractThis paper will explain the difference between management and leadership. Management and leadership are both equally important to any organization in being or staying successful. An organization needs to have the two different types of individuals.Management and Leadership PaperThe term management characterizes the process of and/or the personnel leading and directing all or part of an organization through the deployment and manipulation of resources (Wikipedia, 2006). Effective managers are not necessarily true leaders. The leader puts a premium on substance rather than on style (Bateman and Snell, 2004).Leadership is the ability of an individual to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organization (Wikipedia, 2006). Leadership is one who influences others to attain goals. The greater the number of followers, the greater the influence and the more successful the attainment of worthy goals, the more evident the leadership. Outstanding leaders combine good strategic substance and effective interpersonal processes to formulate and implement strategies that produce results and sustainable competitive advantage. They may launch enterprises, build organization cultures, win wars, or otherwise change the course of events. Great leaders imagine an ideal future for their organizations that goes beyond what others may have thought possible. They strive to...
