In article journal, “College Students' Perceptions of Fitness and Body Type in Interpersonal Relationships” by Melissa MacDonald. She did a research on college students on their perception of fitness and body type through communication.
In the article, 56 percent of women and 43 percent of men was unhappy about their body type. Part of it is the environment they are in, gender roles, and relationship. Others students, regardless what size they have a negative aspect on their personal weight, but the high number was overweight students. Students felt really comfortable of their body type still want to be healthy and active. The students from both sexes did not care what other people think they want a person to accept them for who they are not judging them on their body.
Women in society get judged a lot when comes to their body, you have women go through extreme means to lose weight by doing crazy fad diets, using body wraps, or any other gimmicks. When a woman see other women fit, they would try so hard to be like them to be fit instead of being defined their own body.
