The company’s two founders, (Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler) have been making history since the year 1886 ("A Star). The timeless body styling of all Mercedes-Benz models require no annual changes. Two men, Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler, founded Mercedes-Benz in the early 20th century. Karl Benz was born on 25 November, 1844 in Karlsruhe, Germany, and was the son of an engine driver ("KARL BENZ MERCEDES). Throughout the early life of Karl Benz, he showed a genuine predisposition toward the mechanics of machinery, which inspired him to take a career in the field. Benz then attended Karlsruhe grammar school and went on to the Karlsruhe Polytechnic. This allowed Benz to get a deeper understanding of engineering. Between the years 1864 and 1870, he worked for a number of different firms as a draughtsman, designer and works manager before founding his first firm in 1871 in Mannheim, with August Ritter ("KARL BENZ MERCEDES). Then 1872, Karl Benz married Bertha Ringer, who was a major support to him in his work ("KARL BENZ MERCEDES). Ringer was Benz’s biggest proponent and always pushed her husband to never give up. Karl Benz then turned his attention to building engines.
Benz now turned his attention to building a two-stroke engine, after two years' work, his first engine finally sprang to life on New Year's Eve, 1879 ("KARL BENZ MERCEDES). After perfecting the two-stroke engine, Benz's company had to close due to a shortage in funds. After one month of being out of work, two businessmen came and financed him, creating Benz & Cie (Adler,). Benz & Cie was founded in Mannheim in 1883 to build stationary internal-combustion engines (Karl Benz (German). Now with a fresh start he aspired to build a "motor carriage,” with an engine based on the Otto four-stroke cycle. Karl Benz was on the fast track to building the first car.
