In the above two articles, researchers Mayer, Kovalick and Certo examined how teacher-led workshops, and student-led workshops with the usage of mini-lessons, motivates students more when learning the academic curriculum through a student-centered setting. The researchers proved that the ample activities motivate students when learning, but also believes that using updated technology is another key factor of endorsing student motivation in education. In today's society, everyone are becoming more and more tech savvy, and in the generation we teach, updated technology motivates students to want to learn the curriculum. In the article, the researchers uses a qualitative research method to validate the hypothesize statement. The research design the researchers used in this article helped students overcome slabs of self-criticism in their writing assignments, which later reflected in an interest to them. Erdman, Hetzel, and Fondrie (2011) encountered connections made through teaching when forging this strategy. The three articulates protocols that enlightened students’ interest on writing by letting them have free time (free write) for about a week, and then going back for revisions. By doing so, students were able to grow through oral and listening techniques within writing, which further enhanced their student motivation in the lesson. After dispensing this strategy, the researchers saw that over a week's work, one assignment strengthened students' emerging senses of community among writing and articulating the daily assignments. If students are able to become motivated in the academic curriculum through the use of writing freely, it will be very easy for them to develop a cohesive understanding on the academic instructions.
One of the most successful ways to ensure that students understand any given instructions is making sure that they are hyped, and motivated when addressing the assignment. An effective way on ensuring that this process is implemented in our K-12 classrooms, students can develop a substantial motivational interest through memorization. Learning the academic instructions through memorization is a very effective way to ensure that students are motivated before addressing the assessment via classroom. Memorization is a process of adapting something to the memory. The act of memorization is often a thoughtful process undertaken to store in memory for later recalls, but how could we as educators get our students motivated to even memorize the instruction? Salam, (2003) researched that getting students motivated when learning the academic curriculum can be extracted through pre-reading activities and memorization.
Throughout her research, Salam found that as a participant's own life, interaction with memorizing the assignments as an individual not only increased students' motivational interest on the assignment, but it also increased their ability to learn and understand what instructions were being given. Being a current student, I am keen to memorizing my assignment instructions via writing them down, repeating them constantly in my head, and by putting the wordings into song lyrics.
