I know you are expecting to read just another boring essay that some 8th grade student wrote; you are one hundred percent right but lets try to make this essay more interesting than average, lets have some fun. If you were captured by indians then forced to live an outdoor and wildlife what would you think? If it was me I know I would freak out and go crazy! My character's name is Francis Tucket (Mr.Tucket) from the book Mr.Tucket by Gary Paulsen. This fourteen year old boy is very adventurous and thrilling to read about. He lives with this crazy man named Mr. Grimes. Mr. Grimes becomes Francis’s mentor and companion; he basically shows and teaches Francis everything he knows. Mr. Grimes has only one arm but he is still capable of doing anything that someone with two arms can do. The character Francis Tucket that Gary Paulsen put together is outstanding, he is very bold, confident, brave, and intrepid.
Francis is bold, he is so bold that he decided to go with ...view middle of the document...
Lastly he also learned to do things such as ride horses in a very short amount of time, usually it would take at least a few days to learn to ride a horse. I believe that in the story the people that he meets would all agree with me that he is bold and very confident.
One reason I decided to pick Francis for my character is his bravery; he is the bravest person I know.In the story Francis goes through a lot of life changing events, I believe that in order to flee from crazy indians you must be somewhat brave in order to keep yourself together. In the beginning of the book he was forced to ride a horse for the first time. He had very little experience, but he tried anyway here is what the book said ”The little black mare didn’t even have a blanket on her back, she only had two speeds-dead stop and full run.”(Paulsen, 1994, p.27). This quote shows that France had to be brave in order to try and ride this horse. He wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, even if it meant a full days work for no pay he would do it without questioning anyone. Lastly he is one brave character, because throughout the book he didn’t break down or give in at all.
Francis was intrepid in other words he was fearless, and adventurous. During the story Francis had to fight this indian boy in order for him to win a new horse. He was losing for most of the match but then he became fearless and “ He jumped high in the air, and in an almost perfect swan dive, landed headfirst in the center of the Indian’s stomach”(Paulsen, 1994, p.67). That shows that he is fearless. Francis is so adventurous that one time he chased after Mr.Grimes on horseback even when Mr.Grimes had a 3 hour head start. Francis very adventurous he had some free time once and while riding his horse he came upon some indians that tried to shoot him with their bow and arrows. Overall Francis is an intrepid boy who never gives up.
Bold, intrepid, confident, and brave all describe Francis. Francis is bold and confident because of how he acted and spoke. He is also brave because of how daring he is and how crazy he acted. Lastly he is intrepid because of how he kept himself together in times that most people would be frightened or worried. Francis Tucket is a very amazing boy who has been through alot. He is very devoted to the outdoors, and loves to learn new things.
