Mumbai is the capital city of India. It is also formerly known by the name Bombay. It is one of the most populated cities in India and ranked as the fourth largest populous city in the world. Among the metropolitan areas in India, Mumbai is the second largest metropolitan area with lots of population. It is estimated to have population of 13 million people. The population pyramid of Mumbai is “young” shape which means it has more children and adults than old age people. It has a population density of 55,794 people per square miles. So it is very dense and crowded city where one can see lots of people moving around, vendors on the streets selling their product, cars and buses, rickshaw on the roads. Although it has lots of pollution, dirt around people would not stop living in this city because of millions of reasons. It is one of the busiest cities in India. There is one saying also, Mumbai never goes to sleep because there are lots of people roaming around in night time too.
People in Mumbai practice different kinds of religions such as Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Jains, and Christianity, Jewish etc. Among these, Hinduism is practiced by most of the people and second largest religion practiced by people is Islam. It is very diverse city blend of different ethnic groups and culture. Most of the language spoken in Mumbai is Maharashtrain and Guajarati though official language is Marathi. As English is an international language, it is widely spoken in all part of India especially in Mumbai. The people migrate to this place all over the world so it has blend of all kind of religions, culture and traditions which make this city unique place to live. But the worst part of Mumbai is that there are always conflicts between two religions – Hinduism and Muslim. These tension and conflicts arise from political structure, historical and religious as well as socio-economic perspectives. “In Mumbai due to this conflict between Hindu and Muslim, it is shown that death toll rises to 896 including 14 total incidents.”
While talking about the gender ratios, it is estimated that the ratio of females to males in the city of Mumbai is eight hundred thirty eight females per thousand males. The political party of Mumbai is Democratic Party known as Indian National Congress or commonly known as Congress party and Bharatiya Janta Party. The national election held in every five years. Mumbai has total number of six parliamentary constituencies which includes Mumbai South, Mumbai South Central, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai North, Mumbai North west and Mumbai North East.
