Tommy was just an ordinary 10 year old, who went to school, and lived with his mum. Tommy had lots of friends but he only had one best friend, Graeme. Graeme had been diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago, since then Tommy has tried to make the best out of life with Graeme. Until one day Tommy turned up for school, sat in his seat in for registration, while the teacher took the register he called out Graemes name but Graeme wasn't in his seat, he hadn't arrived to school yet. Tommy thought he was maybe just at the doctors and didn't think much of it so he carried on as normal at school until he got home when his life was turned upside down. Simple. Tommy shivered and zipped his jumper up to his chin, his room was warm but his mind was cold. Ever since that day his mind has been like ice. He was like a lost puppy without Graeme, confused and distraught without Graeme. Tommy's mum called from downstairs telling Tommy that it was time to go. Tommy sighed got up and stood in front of his mirror, staring at the lifeless figure staring back. His chestnut hair was dull,his eyes were red and baggy, because he hadn't slept and how much he had cried. He tried to fix his hair on many occasions but thought what was the point. Tommy got in the car and leaned his head against the window, again watching the raindrops racing down the window. Tommy's mum, Diane asked how he was doing today, but Tommy didn't say a word and continued staring blankly at the raindrops. Tommy hadn't spoke since that day, over a week ago, Diane spent 3 days trying to get him to talk to her, but he just stared at the walls and didn't mutter a word. The car journey seemed like forever to Tommy, but eventually they arrived at the funeral home. Tommy closed his eyes and told himself that he could get through this, he had been mentally preparing for this all week. But he knew he couldn't get through this and he knew he wasn't ready.
