My Little Bit Of Country Analysis

She feels her life is too ordinary and boring, especially in comparison to the zoo, where there are many exotic animals and so on. However she says New york is a romantic place, a great place for a new family. In contrast to her parents, she does not want to move away from the city, as she has a “full-blown love affair with Central Park” and enjoys other qualities you get from living in the city; Urban school among others. In no season are New York bad, the summer they can cool off at bethesda fountain, and in the winter they can ski down the Seventy-Ninth Street hill. To her all of the best is found in the city, whereas she hates the suburbs where this absolutely no city-life, while in the city there is enough suburbia to quell the needs for that. In fact she directly describes that the darkness of the country scares her along with the animals which inhabit it. She is just fine in her own “Little Bit of Country” Central Park.

The themes are The City vs The Suburbs which ofcourse is the biggest contrast of all in the story
Growing up in the form of her own upbringing, which takes up a big chunk and the upbringing of her own children in the city.

Personally I’ve never been completely in love with the city, but now I am old enough to hit the parties in the weekends I am warming up the idea, while as a kid I could never imagine ever living in the city, back then suburbia was just perfect for me. I suppose it is very normal for a family to want to get out of the city and into suburbia, as the city can be a little too much with all its light and population that never really goes to sleep, whereas the suburbs are calm enough to raise small children. In fact I would say that even today, and here in Denmark it is a very common thing to settle down with 2-3 children preferable a boy and a girl, a nice house in the suburbs not too far away from work, but still a calm enough place to play with your kids, and ofcourse a car made to transport said family.
