My Person Essay

700 words - 3 pages

Mariela Garza9/22/14English 1301Mrs. CamarilloThroughout life, we meet many people who impact us in a way. Their impact can be for a day or for a life time. It can be for the better or for the worse. Hector, my boyfriend, is more than a man; he was and still is my hero. Life is full of unexpected experiences, no one knows what will happen in the very next moment. Thankfully, when I felt like my world was crashing down, he was there to catch me. He was soft spoken, yet every word he said held strong meaning. Hector helped me accept myself for who I am, he always took the big step of being my best friend and he taught me to never give up and keep moving forward to accomplish every goal I wanted to succeed in.Hector's unconditional love helped me accept myself for who I am. It never changed who I was as a person; I just learned how to enhance the love and respect for myself that was already in stilled in me.About five years ago, my greatest obstacle came crashing down on me, my parents' divorce. During this time in my life, I was lost and confused about who I wanted to be, what I wanted to be in the future, and depression had gotten the best of me. I was ready to give up on everything and myself. I wanted to end my life with a single cut through my arms. Hector came into my life without a warning; he was my knight in shining armor. Throughout this horrible experience, he was the back bone in my life and technically speaking he saved me. He was always there when I needed him, and he always gave me the greatest advice anyone could have ever given me. Telling me that everything was going to be okay and to never blame my myself for what happened to my parents. Till this day, he continues to be that same best friend I had five years ago.As I grew older, I realized I never really had a plan for my future. Well I did, but not an accurate one. For instance, I never thought about taking dual credit classes ever in my life, I never thought about what college I wanted to go to, I never had that push that everyone should get. I always believed that if I were to try, I would fail and failing is one of my biggest fears. Hector, on the other hand, did go through a rough life and never wanted me to do the same mistakes that he did. Even though he is only one year apart from me, there was a lot I needed to learn and understand. Therefore, he showed me the ropes and helped me keep my future in place. No matter what anyone says, even if he is just my boyfriend, I believe Hector made a huge impact in my life, because even when things got tough and terrifying, he stuck with me through my best and my worst moments in life. That's the most amazing thing anyone can do and I'm glad it was him.
