Negative Aspects Of Religion Philosophy Essay

933 words - 4 pages

To start off, what I’m about to say is based on my opinion and is quite factual. First off, I believe in the almighty being we as humans know as God. In addition, growing up I was taught by my parents and older siblings that there is a being who is all powerful and who will guide you to salvation. A being so powerful we call as God who can lead you to the path of righteousness and if you follow God’s will and direction and read, dissect, and fully understand the holy book known as the Bible you will live a luxurious life. At first, I thought everything about religion was as easy as ABC. I was a fool to believe that, but I’ve learned on each day that I started to realize that religion was not so great. Especially on how it affects people today and of course they will always be someone to argue with my philosophy. On the positive aspects of religion, such as you it can help you socialize with new people in your community, it brings people together, furthermore it gives them something to believe in and to let them know there is only one being in this world that can lead you a path of virtue and that being is called God. Yet there is a negative theory’s that I always wanted to share, and voice my opinion on the negative aspects of evil in religion today and here are my reasons.

My first reason is that religion is filling people in fear. I’m not saying we as people are living in fear is that it’s causing us as humans to Live-in-Fear! Why? Religion is based on the idea of sin and in the bible, God said “all people are born sinners, impure souls, and if they don’t purify and clean themselves, they will soon be sent to the bowels of hell”. By the almighty being we know as God, where they will have to experience eternal suffering. But to not get thrown into hell, religion demands that people prove to God that they are worthy of heaven. How? I never quite understood that, Naturally, when people are put in a situation, they find themselves in a state of fear. Human beings are always afraid of whether their actions are right according to religion or not. When you believe that you are being constantly watched by an all-seeing eye of God, you must act in virtue to please God. The fear of hell is always in your mind, filling you with worry and anxiety, and this does not allow you to live naturally. And as that result it cause people to live unnaturally and makes them become psychotic and those people are going show that way of living to their children and to the future generations.
