The candidates have talked about many issues like healthcare, drug reform, and civil liberties. The candidates that are running are Ken Cuccinelli, Terry McAuliffe, and Robert Sarvis. Ken Cuccinelli is running on the republican ticket. Terry McAuliffe is running on the democratic ticket. Lastly Robert Sarvis is running on the libertarian ticket.
Ken Cuccinelli is like any other republican and his views are just as a normal republican are. Cuccinelli opposes the new Obamacare like most republicans do. He has hinted at how he believes on drug reform but has yet to say what his plans are for it. On civil liberties he is very similar to how all the other candidates feel about it.
Ken Cuccinelli opposes the new healthcare reform and wants to change it to the way the health care was. He wants to leave the medical decisions to the doctors and the families and that the government should stay out of people’s healthcare. He has stated that the new”Obamacare will cost the country more than it will save it in the long run”. He also wants to make state crossing healthcare legal which would increase interstate commerce and be better for the economy. Says that Obamacare is unconstitutional and should not be allowed to pass.
Cuccinelli has stated that he is open to ideas of any new drug reform ideas. If the legalization of marijuana every came to a vote he would vote for it. Wanting to fight the harder drugs like pills, meth, crack ect. If marijuana became legal in Virginia he would tax it and use the money to help fund the drug war in Virginia. Believes that with marijuana was legal it would be an amazing tax income for the state.
Cuccinelli believes that traditional marriage should be protected. Also he has stated that marriage is only for one man and one woman as in the bible. He says that homosexuality is against nature and harmful to society. He will not change any laws for same sex marriage in Virginia. Cuccinelli believes that the gays are “killing the souls of our state’s youth and corrupting our nation”.
Terry McAuliffe is a democrat and believes as many democrats do. When it comes to healthcare he does support the new Obomacare. He is somewhat vague on how he believes on drug reform and has not made an official statement about it. As with all the other candidates his beliefs on civil liberties is different and similar to each other.
Terry McAuliffe wants to expand Medicaid to cover nearly 400,000 uninsured Virginians. He believes that Obamacare will help our country to ensure the uninsured people of the country. Want to establish a “report card “on the quality of health care. McAuliffe that the 37 million people uninsured people should have a fair chance to get Medicaid. He wants to expand Medicaid by 21 billion dollars.
McAuliffe has not made any plans on how he would reform any of the drug policy or if he would legalize marijuana. He has stated that if it came to a vote he would legalize marijuana and use the tax to help the people of Virginia....
