"Organizational behavior, OB for short, is the study of human behavior in organizations" (Schermerh, Hunt, and Osborn, 2005, p. 17). Everybody reacts differently in different situations. The behavior in the organization is usually determined by the way the organization is being ran in general. If the managers are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, the organization is going to perform well. The employee's behaviors will be good for the company. Communication is a vital part of the behavior in the organizations. Employees do not take change well and do not want change. If information is not communicated to employees, their behavior can hurt the company. Their performance will not be at the highest level.Organizational Culture"In the internal environment of organizations, the shared beliefs and values that influence the behavior of organizational members create what is called the organizational culture" (Schermerh, Hunt, and Osborn, 2005, p.25).My organization is a union industry. The organizational culture is a little different than some organizations. My organization is also located in a small town. We hire line employees in at 14 dollars an hour and they top out at 18 dollars an hour. We pay the employees what they deserve for the work they do. My organization is the highest paying industry in this area. When employees start working here they usually do not leave. We do not work this way. We give them what they ask for if it is reasonable. The managers are told to spend as much time as possible talking with the people on a personal level. We do not want to go up and talk about work.I like my organizational culture but there is something I would change. Currently, when we hire employees into the organization. The Human Resources Manager commonly higher employees relatives. I do believe this needs to change. We have a 50-day probationary period for the new team members. If the employee is not a good enough worker, he or she is terminated. This causes conflict for the superintendents in my organization.Three years ago an employee's daughter was hired into the organization. She could not keep up with the pace of the lines. After 20 days in the organization, she had to be terminated. I was the shift superintendent at the time. I called her into my office and let her go. Her mother also worked on my shift. Her daughter road into work with her and had to ride home. As soon as her mother found out what I had done. She came into my office in a rage. She screamed at me for about 5 minutes and I was left with no choice but to put her out on suspension. Six months later she finally came around and started...
