Every organization has their own set of beliefs and culture. An organization cannot run without an effective leader making sound decisions. Ethics are moral principles based on right and wrong. According to Jones (2013), the sources of organizational ethics come from: society, professional, and individual. Society, professional, and individual are the three principal sources of ethical values and are vital to organizational effectiveness.

In an organization, the corporate culture affects ethical values. Ober (2009) affirmed that if a strict code of ethics is enforced consistently by the organization, employees have fewer opportunities to be unethical.
Ethics training in an organization is necessary and is used to motivate and encourage employees to make the right choices (Jones, 2013). Jones (2013) pointed out ethical workplace culture is more involved than drafting a values statement, setting policy or training programs. According to Ober (2009), companies that value ethics and social responsibility are often more profitable. Ethical workplace cultures are ones that make it far easier to do the right thing (Ober, 2009). Unfortunately, the problem that occurs in many organizational cultures is that it is easier to make take the wrong ethical approach when challenges occur.
These three sources of ethics are the rules and standard that establish the culture of an organization. Each organization has a set of ethics that they follow.
