Falling within the purview of the Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change; is the Climate Change Department that was established in 2012. It is a Government run organisation, specifically commissioned to undertake a number of critical projects aimed at building the country's resilience to the effects of climate change. It was officially made to order by a committee that reports to, and advises the Minister, Honourable Robert Pickersgill. It is backed up by a Climate Change Policy Framework aimed at promoting understanding/co-operation and oneness on critical issues. The Climate Change Department is headed by Principal Director, Albert Daley, Senior Technical Officers, Officers of Resource and Mobilization, Officers of Research and Development and Officers of Partnership. Objectives Mr. Daley reiterates that the Ministry/Climate Change Department seeks to improve the quality of life of all Jamaicans by enabling a sustainable, healthy, natural and built environment. This it seeks to actualize by equitable, broad-based land ownership; access to natural resources in a climate change resilient society.
