Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines. Metaphysics and Epistemology PaperWithin the world, there have been many changes that have changed how we are constantly retaining knowledge. Through those changes, the concept of metaphysics and epistemology was revealed. This paper will first include definitions on metaphysics and epistemology, and then rephrase the definitions in my own words. Identifying one pre Socratic philosopher with a description on his contributions to the nature of knowledge will be explained next. It will also include a brief description of Plato/Socrates and their contentions regarding metaphysics and epistemology, and a brief examination of Aristotle's position on both metaphysics and epistemology. Lastly, a short examination of John Locke's position on the nature of reality and what can be known.Metaphysics- is defined as "a division of philosophy that is concerned with the fundamental nature of reality and being and that includes ontology, cosmology, and often epistemology" (Merriam-Webster, 2013, para 1). Metaphysics-is defined as using the giving fundamental things in life and learning how the nature of reality is by knowledge gain.Epistemology- is defined as "the study or a theory of the nature and grounds of knowledge especially with reference to its limits and validity" (Merriam-Webster, 2013, para 1). Epistemology- is defined as retaining knowledge without having limitations on any areas that one desires to want to know more of.Pythagoras is pre-Socratic philosopher who is responsible for what is known as the Pythagorean Theorem (Geometry) (Moore & Bruder, 2011) Pythagoras contribution towards the nature of knowledge was that he "said to maintain that things are numbers" (Moore & Bruder, 2011, p. 24). Such as according to Moore & Bruder (2011) stated that "two points make a line, three points define a surface, solids are made of surfaces, and bodies are made of surfaces and bodies are made out of solids" (p. 24).
