Perfection, a romance novel from the series Neighbor from Hell written by R.L. Mathewson, has an element of angst and comedy. This romance novel is set in a contemporary setting where there is a large use of swear words and sexual themes in the novel as it progresses. Furthermore, based on this work there have been good and bad reviews by the authors, from their points of views, because of either the main characters “Zoe” and “Trevor”, or secondary characters mostly the “Bradford” family (Mathewson 1, 2).
First, Perfection created either good or bad reviews from readers. These people showed what they thought about the book through their reviews by what they commented first these comments “Perfection is just what the cover calls for. Perfect ( Elvisgrl84, So)”. Even though the same author still felt something about one character “will say that Trevor did rub me the wrong way in the beginning because he was an atrocious a**hole, I warmed up to him by the end (Elvisgrl84, So)”. The next comments show someone that did not really enjoy the novel “No, my real problem with the book was the unintentional size-est message that permeated the story. These problems are on top of the poor editing, content and copy, in the book. D (Jane, REVIEW)”. Continuing, there were comments like these
“Funny as hell. Batshit crazy and wacky characters. AND I LOVE IT!!!” “ this probably has to be the next funniest book I’ve ever read. I just loved every part of it (merryways, Series)”.

There is so much to love about this series, and this book in particular, Perfection is a super fast read, I did it in just one sitting. I laughed, I swooned, I got a little angry…but not too bad and not once did I cry. If you are looking for a light, funny, sexy read – Perfection is for you (scandal, Perfection).
Lastly, there are comment like theses “Ah! Loved it. Perfection, seriously (Construed's, Perfection).
These comment show that the book created reaction from those that read it either good or bad, and as we see some of these reviewers’ were upset with the male lead Trevor.
Secondly, we have the male lead Trevor a jerk and narcissistic, who adores eating also has his own set of issues. First Trevor is narcissistic because everything he does is to benefit him even though he makes it seem like Zoe should thank him like the first time he insults her really badly and offer her an employment option by saying
Look, there’s this job in the office at my uncle’s construction company. And as a thank you for hooking you with a job, you’ll return the favor by ordering pizza from Black Jack’s at least once a week for me (Mathewson 22).
Trevor is a jerk throughout the book and the first time his innuendo about Zoe being overweight shows that he just does not have any censor or cares when he was arguing with Zoe when he said “It’s not like you need it (Mathewson 15)” as Perfection progresses the novel shows that Trevor has an obsession with food that is not just him...
