My Life So Far
Suffolk County Community College
Hi! My name is Brian Friedrich and my life has had its ups and downs before, like any other person has had. I was born at Huntington hospital in Huntington, New York. I grew up in East Northport, New York in Suffolk County. I have always lived in the same house and I like it that way. I had the chance to move but I chose not to. My family consists of five people, my dad, my mom, my two sisters, and myself. My mom and dad were the greatest parents growing up and all throughout my childhood. I thought I had the greatest life and wouldn’t change anything about it. I have become extremely close with my dad, especially as I have gotten older. My dad is more like a friend to me now, I guess because I can relate to him and talk to him about things that interest us both. Not that I don’t see him as a father, its just that he is a friend and a father. My other good friend is Matt who I met through elementary school and through little league because we were in the same class and on the same team. I became best friends with Matt in third grade, when we were eight, and to this day we are still best friends at the age of eighteen. The first way Matt and I hung out outside of school was through doing homework and projects for our class in third grade. I have always struggled with school grade wise. I do fine in class, taking notes, completing what I need to get done, and even homework. But the biggest trouble I had and still have to this day is test taking. Whenever I take a test, I freeze up and can’t remember anything I studied. I think I had a lot of pressure put on me to do so well because my two older sisters always did so good in their classes that I wanted to do the same. I generally like school because its get you to be somewhere in life and you get meet new people, but I always hated it because of my bad grades. I personally think my grades are not the best, but I usually just made honor roll which is an average between 90 and 95. So they aren’t extremely horrible, but I would have liked a little higher. I think the thing that pissed me off the most was that I honestly did study as much as I could with reading my notes, studying flash cards, and so on, but no matter what I did, I always got a grade that I was unhappy with. As I have grown older, I have learned to study different ways that sometimes help, but not always. A big thing I have trouble with studying is time. Three things that I do almost every day is school, work, and going to the gym. Between school and work, by the time I get home from work, eat something, and then sit down, it’s around nine o’clock at night. The last thing I want to do is go up in my room and start studying something that’s boring enough as it already is. Luckily, I don’t work every day of the week, so I use those days off to do all the major work and studying so that on nights when I do have work, I just have to glance over...
