Persuasive Speech

701 words - 3 pages

Have you ever watched any celebrity gossip shows like TMZ, or read any gossip magazines like People Magazine? If you have then you know they can expose and pick apart every single tiny detail about what's going on in a celebrity's life. Let it be a heartbreaking tragedy, or a joyous occasion. Maybe the celebrity want it to be private. I know I would. We all obviously love to watch celebrity gossip shows, but how would we feel if we were the celebrities in that situation? Celebrities should be more protected from the media. They expose tragedies that happen in their personal life, they start rumors about the celebrities and put their reputation in danger, and they just don't leave the celebrities alone.

The media doesn't care. When the Chris Brown and Rihanna domestic abuse scandal occurred, they didn't care about Chris Brown’s career. They hurt his career and album sales by over exaggerating this event. What about Michael Jackson’s child ...view middle of the document...

The media caused the death of the wonderful Princess Diana, ending her career permanently. In 2006 Britney Spears tried to run from the paparazzi with her infant, whilst doing so was framed to look like an irresponsible parent. She was in such a rush that she didn’t have time to put her child in the car seat, so she put the infant in her lap.

Celebrities have the right to privacy. Every human has the right to privacy, even celebrities. It’s stated in the constitution that everyone has the right to privacy. Celebrities are still humans. Sometimes celebrities are just having a bad day, they don't need the media to make it worse by following them around and asking dumb questions. Everyone makes mistakes, but when celebrities do, the media is always there to write about it, making the tiny situation even worse! Although their career choice puts them in the limelight, they still deserve privacy. Just because their job puts them out in the open, doesn’t mean they want to be. What about child stars? What if they just want a normal life? Maybe they’re just doing their job, and don't the media everywhere they go.

The media puts celebrities in a lot of stress. They usually add on to the problems that the celebrities are having. They also are just annoying! Following you everywhere, asking you questions about your day all the time. Must be stressful. The media also focuses more on the negative parts of the celebrities life more than the positive ones. Let’s say, Miley Cyrus being stupid, well I bet she got a ton of album sales. Seems like all they have to say is bad news. Some celebrities even have to put on costumes to try to live a normal life. If you have to wear a costume to have a normal life, that’s just sad. Although, the costumes usually do work, it’s ridiculous what they have to go through to try to get the media to stop following them around.

Celebrities aren’t protected enough from the media, thus are pushed to do crazy things to try to get away from them. The Media also ruins careers and reputations. Yes, we all love to watch gossip shows, but how would we feel if we were the celebrities in that situation? The Media is taking the little privacy the celebrities want. Everyone has the right to privacy. Why shouldn’t celebrities?
