Over the last decade, technology has done nothing but advance, and people, especially teenagers, have become very accustomed to using it in their everyday lives. This close relationship with technology consequently causes humans to entirely lose the ability to communicate with people and can very quickly lead to insecurity and low self-esteem. New devices and different types of technology are being brought to our attention every day, although these gadgets seem to have made a person’s quotidian easier they are also making that person dependent of such things. A recent survey showed that 65% of teenagers aged 13 to 18 have not written a single, handwritten letter in their lives, however, they send emails on a daily basis.
One could argue that one of the positive aspects of technology is that it makes communication easier but at the same time it is making communication between people much less personal. Cell phones, computers and tablets are the types of devices that prevent humans from getting to know a person, these devices make it unnecessary to be with someone in person. Moreover, being hidden behind these apparatuses facilitates people to be someone entirely different to who they really are, gadgets almost deny us the opportunity to speak to someone face to face and it influences and tempts us to lie. Cell phones are a top priority in the lives of teens today because they are a way of connecting to friends 24/7. Most of the time, with my generation especially, conversations that may be uncomfortable in person, like break-ups, are done through calls or texts which personally, I strongly believe that should not happen especially over something so personal.  It may be argued that being able to break-up with someone virtually is the best choice, maybe...
