I. Introduction:
Attention getting opening: "People have a basic human right to decide the number and spacing of their children and the right to obtain the necessary methods to do so", this was stated by the General Assembly of the United Nations World Conference on Human Rights in 1968 (Mattar). But not all methods are applicable in the countries of the world.
Thesis Statement: It is a very sensitive and controversial issue, that's why I’m talking today about the morning after pill.

• Locally there are three types of emergency contraceptive pill (Chiquita Loving, 2014).

Transition: The morning after pill submits to the body an intense hormonal load. This can lead to the occurrence of certain side effects such as alterations in the menstrual cycle, dizziness, nausea, vomiting etc. (“Emergency Contraception,”).

Main Point B: Some people argue that an abortion could be happening but it has been proven that is not true.
Subpoints:

• Its action is to prevent the migration of sperm to the fallopian tubes and prevent ovulation, so if not sperm reach the fallopian tubes, they can’t fertilize the egg. So it is logical that it is not an abortion (Trussell & Raymond, 2014).
• This pill operates under three mechanisms of action:
1. First, the levonorgestrel enters the bloodstream and immediately prevents a woman from ovulating (“Emergency Contraception,”).
2. The second mechanism causes the hormone to make the cervical mucus ticker, which forms a plug in the cervix, creating a barrier that prevents sperm from moving (“Emergency Contraception,”).
3. The third is to prevent sperm capacitation. The male gametes, during his journey to find the egg, must be fast to fertilize. But the drug dull them, avoiding to increase its speed (“Emergency Contraception,”).
