Physical Therapy Assistant Essay

A Physical Therapist Assistant is a job occupation that involves assisting a Physical Therapist who helps with the rehabilitation of individuals who have past injuries or are working towards strengthening what they are weak with. They help people get back to their normal self and ready to operate in society normally. The Physical Therapist Assistant mostly helps with the workouts and stretches that patients have to do. They help with impairments, disabilities, and their mobility(U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). A Physical Therapist Assistant can work in hospitals, schools, and any average therapy location. There is a lot of information about being a Physical Therapist Assistant including their day to day routine,salary, schooling, and employment rates (APTA).
As a Physical Therapist Assistant the rewards received from each patient is amazing. Everyday the Physical Therapist Assistant makes someone who is in lack of physical health feel so much better about themselves (APTA). This makes a Physical Therapist Assistant feel like they’re doing miracle work. They truly care about each and every patient and how their body is responding to new things (Vojtko).
The day to day routine of a Physical Therapist Assistant starts with a lot of hard work. They go into a hospital, therapy, or school for work where they begin with a patient usually every 15 minutes in a big hospital. Smaller places spend up to 45 minutes a day with each patient. With each patient the Physical Therapist Assistant works on their disabilities and helps to strengthen every patient. Once a patient is doing their exercises the Physical Therapy Assistant makes note of their progress and their weaknesses(American Physical Therapy Association). The Physical Therapist Assistant reports all of these notes to the Physical Therapist who is considered a Doctor. The Doctor has interventions with the Physical Therapist Assistant after they have an intervention with the patient.(Fue) Most Physical Therapist Assistants work a 8 to 5 shift with many patients (Ries). Physical Therapist Assistants also need to use heat, ice, and electric versions of therapeutic healings and soothings on hurting areas.They can also be trained to treat burning areas with small pools or hot tubs for patients. These are used to cool down infected areas and cause relaxation to bones and muscles that are in pain for the patient. The last main thing Physical Therapist Assistants learn is to give proper and relaxing muscle massages that help make the muscles not feel pain and rub out knots. This treatment will help the circulation of your muscles. Most patients get all of these treatments during their visits to Physical Therapy. All of these descriptions of a day to day routine may differ depending on the location you work in. Including schools, Physical Therapist offices, and hospitals (Fue). This is the day to day routine of a Physical Therapist Assistant of today.
