Porn And Prostitution Are They The Same ?

1454 words - 6 pages

In the past, there was an extremely small number of jobs that was available to women. If the women were poor and had no husband they would more than likely turn to prostitution as a main source of income. As time went on, more varied jobs were available to women, which caused the number of prostitutes to decrease significantly and finally it was made completely illegal by the government. In legal terms prostitution is a lewd act that is committed for money or other considerations. For an action to be considered a “lewd” act one party must commit an action that is considered indecent. Lewd act in prostitution is limited to sexual acts such as oral sex, indecent exposure, and any other sexual ...view middle of the document...

If no sexual acts was involved the prostitute would have to do other activities in exchange for money, which in that case it would just be simple labor rather than selling her body to satisfy someone’s sexual desires.
Porn also has the same requirements as prostitution because porn involves two or more individuals committing sexual acts ranging from normal sex to other perverted acts in front of a camera crew. The individuals involved in the making of a pornographic film would also be getting paid for their services to the producer and directors. Without the sexual acts porn would also suffer the same fate as prostitution and become something else completely different, which shows that at its core porn and prostitution is simply just individuals committing sexual acts rather than them being anything different from each other.
Prostitution is a service that provides “entertainment” for its customers because customers who paid for the services of a prostitute more than likely know what kind of services they are paying for and that they are paying for something that they would enjoy rather than a simple waste of time.
Pornographic films are considered to be a form of entertainment for the consumers. By definition a “film” is considered an art form, a powerful form of entertainment and an efficient medium that is used to capture motion pictures. Pornographic films have the same functions as the services provided by a prostitute, which can be boiled down to entertaining the client and consumers with sexual activities that may satisfy their sexual desires.
Many people would consider porn illegal because the same acts are being committed in both events and most of the individuals that are participating in them are gaining some kind of benefit. The only reason that porn has not been made illegal yet is because in legal terms porn is considered to be a legitimate form of acting from the actors are being paid to “act” out an erotic piece of art rather than prostituting themselves to the porn industry so that they can gain benefits such as receiving money.
A pimp or middleman is also very crucial in prostitution. Without a pimp prostitution is like a drug that has no dealer. The pimp acts as a middleman between the customer and the prostitute. After the prostitute is paid by the customer, a lot of the money will go to the pimp as cost for finding the prostitute customers. Prostitutes that do not have a pimp would not be able to find a steady flow of customers since there would be no one introducing them to other people. The pimp also acts as the protector of the prostitutes from the clients that they receive because if the client decided to harm the girl, the pimp will make sure the girl is not harmed because she is his source of income.
During the production of a pornographic film, there is always a middleman that has the same duty as a pimp. The managers are responsible for their porn star by making sure that the girls are not being abused by the...
