If you are anticipating the newest episode of The Walking Dead each week, then you will love the movie World War Z. World War Z was released in the United Stated on the 21st of June, 2013 and was produced by several production companies, including Plan B which is owned by the leading actor, Brad Pitt. The movie grossed over 500 million dollars and is based on a book by the same title, written by Max Brooks ("World War Z (2013)"; Fleming Jr.). World War Z has all the makings of a good action film.
World War Z is about a zombie apocalypse and the fight to keep the human race alive. Some may believe the movie is considered a horror film, but it is “marketed as an action flick’ (Harrison). When the trailers were shown prior to the release of World War Z, they did not give any hints that the “Z” stood for zombies (Harrison). And, the movie is rated PG, so only those under thirteen would need parental guidance. To help obtain a PG rating in the United States, the producers left out bloody and gory scenes (Harrison). A wider audience is attracted to the film because of the PG rating.
For starters, World War Z has non-stop action from the beginning to the end. Within the first ten minutes of the movie, the characters are frantically trying to avoid being crushed by a speeding vehicle in Philadelphia. Then the mayhem truly begins as the leading characters in the film notice that people are being attacked on the streets.
Secondly, this movie has good and evil characters and lots of conflict. The whole movie is based on a United Nations former employee, Gerry Lane, and his family and how they are drawn into finding how this pandemic started, so the human race can be saved. After Gerry contacts an old friend in the U.N. in an effort to find information, he is coerced into helping the United States Government when his family is promised the safety of an offshore battleship in return for his service. Gerry is told that his family would be sent away from the safety of the battleship, if he denied their request. Anyone that is bitten becomes a zombie, so it is...
