Unfortunately due to our past history, discrimination had been among us from since decades. Discrimination and prejudice would probably be among us until the end of the world. Prejudice and discrimination is an action that treats people unfairly because of their membership in a particular social group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs to rather on that individual. It is an unfair treatment to a person, racial group, and minority. It is an action based on prejudice.
In this paper I will discuss what happens when we allow biases and prejudice to affect our actions toward others. I will then conclude my paper with what we can do to prevent or eliminate discrimination.
Prejudice and discrimination push people apart instead of bringing us together. Our religion, race, height, nationality, and even our gender are factors that most people make quick judgments about. Unfortunately, many of these judgments are based on biases and assumptions and it is among all of us. Every country, state, city discriminate among themselves even their own kinds.
Even though, discriminatory behaviors are done in many forms, they all involve in some form of exclusion or rejection. Over the years there have been several incident regarding discriminating against me and love ones. This behavior allows the individual to feel self-wanted or completely bring their self-esteem down. Discriminating denigrates the individual’s ability. It may question their being as a person. Who is anyone to determine ones being? We live a world that we use the term “All men are created equal.” Yet, we refuse to follow our saying. Most Americans are hypocrites. They pretend to have virtues, morals religious beliefs, and principals yet we are full of hatred towards other race that is not their own kind of people. For instance, when President Barack Obama was running for President, people use to make comments like he needs to go back to Africa where he is from. It was uncalled for and not necessary.
There are so many serious issues like poverty, disease, war and so much more happening in this world. Life is already difficult therefore, why must we allow something like discrimination makes people afraid of whom they truly are. It is clear that discrimination is a part of a systematic use of power that “the enslavement of Africans in the United States, the official domination of Blacks by Whites in South Africa, and Hitler's widespread extermination of Jews are some historic examples of systematic, legal discrimination” so why can’t we break this chain. Like I mentioned in my introduction, discrimination is an action people have come to witness but yet, we still discriminate against each other. Everyone wants to be superior over the other, others on the other hand, would never accept different types of races in their mist therefore, and we will never find peace.
We say America is the land of opportunity, yet immigrants and different races are not always well-treated...
