Health ailments continue to induce problems in the society from several corners. People of various ages appear vulnerable to health ailments that have complex underlying etiologies. However, certain ailments interfere in life due to the habits or increased dependence. For instance, people who use medications for curing diseases also tend to misuse them for no good reasons. Such trend is contributing to myriad of problems such as decline in mental functions, social maladjustments or crime and other consequences on the whole body. So, the main objective is to ensure funds to the project aimed at mitigating the problem of substance abuse mothers during their prenatal care.
There are several funding resources that could play important role in addressing the needs of the project. For instance, March of Dimes is an authentic organization. It provides funding for the grants much related to the maternal-child health program in association with the local chapters (March of dimes, 2014).
Any external organization could apply for funding to assist programs that aim at enhancing the mother and baby health by alleviating premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality. Based on priority and needs of community, March of dimes focused on projects and facilitates high access to prevention services to assist in reducing disparities in preterm birth.
For pregnant women, health care services are:
a. Increased smoking cessation: Priority is provided to education on prenatal health and information services that use the "5 A's" counseling method.
b. Increasing health education and information accessibility to pregnant women who use drugs or alcohol.
c. Mediating changes in system by introducing quality enhancement program associated with prematurity.
d. High involvement in local or state maternal child health programs through improved education, outreach campaigns and public awareness, such as WIC and Medicaid SCHIP (March of dimes, 2014).
Every year, the chapters of March of Dimes offer nearly $6 million to assist project grants. Some of the popular funded areas are enhanced prenatal care, group prenatal care, inter conception education and quality improvement. The range of grants if from $10,000 to $25,000, and for a period of one to three years (March of dimes, 2014). March of dimes appears to provide completes support to mothers especially who are addicted substance abuse. However, certain constraints in getting funding could be lack of barrier free consultation departments specialized for such women. In fact, March of dimes has certain barrier-free design consultation services that offer a professional design help in addressing the requirements of individuals with several disabilities during the redesign or development of residential buildings. (Barrier- Free Design, 2013) To say, it emphasizes on the principles of building design and recommends necessary guidelines to guarantee that buildings could meet the needs of individuals with physical, sensory or cognitive abnormalities. Such approach appears vague and more concentrated on buildings thus indicating a residential policy. It is not clear in its barrier free design services to a community hospital where a significant proportion of substance abusing mothers regularly visit for treatment.
