Everyone dreams of growing up, getting married, having children and raising them in a great neighborhood. They all want to believe that their children are safe in their homes- and that’s how it should be; however, that’s not always the case. People have faith in everyone around them, that everyone is “just like them” and wouldn’t hurt anyone. Having children should make them more cautious and aware of their surroundings. Everyone should always be prepared for the worst things that can happen-whether or not they do happen.
One issue that many neighborhoods have is the fact that so many strangers drive around and are near the children in that area. Having strangers in a safe, family neighborhood has often led to dangerous break-ins. There have been multiple stories of break-ins around the world that have changed so many children’s lives. One recent story that definitely impacted the importance of safety was from a fourteen year-old. During the summer, she was home with a friend when someone broke into her house. Trying to enjoy summer break, she decided to stay home with her friend and just hang out- as any teenager would want to do. On August 1st 2012, her life was changed and she wouldn’t be the same. Uninvited strangers came knocking on her door and not too long after that intruded her home. She claims that this is not the first time she has seen strangers in the neighborhood. This has happened so often that there is someone in charge of sending e-mails to all the families in the neighborhood. She claims that if there had been a gate to keep them out, they never could have entered the neighborhood let alone her house! One simple thing can make a huge difference in keeping a child safe and possibly saving their life.
One task that could prevent uninvited people from coming into the neighborhood would be adding a gate to the entrance. Since it would involve newer technology, it might be expensive- but you can’t put a price...
