Organizacional StructuresUna serie de trabajos relacionados que están enfocados hacia una solución importante se conoce como un proyecto. Los proyectos conllevan tiempo, dinero, personas y otros recursos para que se produzcan con éxito. La gestión de proyectos por lo general controla dichos recursos así como la planificación del proyecto y la asignación de técnicas cuando sea necesario. Antes de que un proyecto se ha iniciado, la administración decide que estructura organizativa se utilizará para ejecutar el proyecto. Hay tres estructuras organizativas que se pueden elegir, la Matriz, la Funcional y las estructuras del Proyecto Puro. Cada uno de estos tiene sus ventajas y desventajas en la estructuración de un proyecto. Los directores de proyecto están a cargo de la iniciación, planificación, ejecución, control y cierre del proyecto. Antes de iniciar un proyecto el gerente debe decidir qué estructura organizativa es la mejor opción para ejecutar el proyecto en argumento. Elegir cual estructura organizativa es la adecuada para cumplir con dicho proyecto, la decisión en gran medida depende del tamaño de la empresa, lo que está tratando de llevar a cabo, y qué recursos están disponibles. El presente trabajo examina las tres estructuras primarias de organización antes mencionados y la situación en la que cada estructura sería el mejor método para gestionar un equipo de proyecto.En la gestión del proyecto funcional de la estructura organizativa ", el proyecto está asignado a la unidad funcional que tiene el mayor interés en garantizar su éxito o pueda ser más útil en su aplicación " (Mantel & Meredith, 2006). Esta estructura organizativa sha sido uno de los más antiguos métodos utilizados sin embargo, sigue siendo uno de los más exitosos. El método funcional se utiliza mejor cuando se aplica a las funciones de rutina de trabajo y para apoyar el valor de las normas de trabajo. En estos proyectos la estructura organizativa se asigna generalmente en dos formas diferentes, consiste en asignar un proyecto a un gerente funcional que coordina con otros para contribuir o asignar el proyecto a diferentes departamentos, donde cada uno completa su parte del trabajo y se reportan a los gerentes de departamentos. En consecuencia, "el comportamiento organizacional es importante porque los empleados funcionales en la posición de la interfaz se reportan a más de un jefe, un gerente de línea [encargadas de controlar los recursos] y un director de proyecto para cada proyecto que se asignan " (Kerzner, 2006).La estructura funcional tiene tanto ventajas como desventajas.
