Project Conception and Initiation:
During the forecasting of our project, we did not know which specific technique would suit us best. Because of this we started off by using the EFQM Excellence Model, which is based on Total Quality Management. Whilst there are numerous management tools and techniques commonly used, the EFQM Excellence Model provides an holistic view of the project and it can be used to determine how these different methods fit together and complement each other. Through this technique we developed our work breakdown structure. The analyzing and improvement parts of this techniques enabled us to ensure an easy progression between tasks. One issue we struggled with during this phase of the project was developing a communication plan. We did not succeed to properly outline the communication procedures between the team and the client. The team incorporated a very broad approach whilst the client had anticipated a more detailed perspective, this was especially clear during the beginning of our project execution, in specific our mid-way presentation.
Project Execution:
After setting a baseline project plan the team provided an estimate of the project's tasks and resource requirements. In order to maintain the DMAIC improvement cycle technique, we constantly monitored project progress against the baseline project plan. Using a Gantt chart, we were able to Manage changes to the baseline project plan, in specific the goal and undertone of our think tank. We were able to Maintain complete records of all project events through our project workbook. Communicating the project status. An issue we ran into was with our goal to have the entire project plan shared with the entire project team. Last minute revisions could have been avoided and this caused the labor of work to divide less equally.
