Las relaciones que ha formado Canadá con otras naciones han sido una influencia de su relación con el Reino Unido. Canadá junto con varias naciones del mundo han estado bajo el régimen del imperio Inglés, unas más que otras. Sin embargo Canadá ha usado esta coincidencia para formar relaciones sociales, económicas, culturales, académicas militares, y ambientales. Con estos países Canadá usa varios foros con el fin de facilitar la comunicación entre ellos. Esta comunicación se da en una variedad de campos como el de la educación, empleo profesional, intercambio científico, y el avance social de las sociedades de estos países, la cual la facilita organizaciones internacionales como el Commonwealth. A pesar de estragos y de ciertas diferencias en eventos históricos, Canadá ha aprovechado esta facilidad de comunicación, y ha estado activa en la formación y desarrollo de relaciones entre miembros del Commonwealth, particularmente con Australia y la India.AustraliaCanadá y Australia han tenido relaciones cercanas históricas, esto se debe a que ambos países tuvieron un desarrollo similar en su historia. Ambos países tuvieron las mismas consecuencias siendo miembros del imperio Inglés. Una de las conexiones más tempranas fue la del envío de prisioneros Canadienses y de todo el imperio Inglés a Australia.
