Renewable energy is a term used to describe a source of energy that has the capability to refill itself. Renewable energy is sometimes called infinite energy. Renewable energy is also known as green or clean energy, because it does not produce toxins or pollutants that are harmful and dangerous to the environment.
Planet earth is going on a critical phase, due to the fossil fuels being consumed worldwide every day. Jimmy Carter once stated on a televised in April 18, 1977 that "Because we are now running out of gas and oil, we must prepare quickly for a third change, to strict conservation and to the use of coal and permanent renewable energy sources, like solar power."
Slowly and gradually those fossil energies would reach their ends, because they are quite limited. When that time comes, it could mean a major catastrophe for our planet Earth. Efforts are being made to replace existing hazardous fuels with new renewable energy.
Renewable energy has plenty of benefits to both our planet and us as people.
Firstly, this will help the Earth to regain back its lost power and there will be more greenery, more healthy living areas and finally pollution could be eliminated for good.
Secondly, renewable energy is infinite. Samuel Bodman once stated in a speech which he made in July 14, 2005 that “As the technology for solar cells gets better and better, this form of clean, renewable energy will find more applications that take up less space and produce more electricity, to meet the energy needs of our homes, schools and businesses” meaning that for generations and generations to come, renewable energy will be able to provide us a safe, clean and healthy environment for all people to live in.
Next, millions of people will be given job opportunities with employment resources because renewable energy needs plenty of manpower and workman ship in order to build and maintain its facilities.
Lastly, the oil and fossil energy has not only disrupted the planet, but it has also disrupted the relation between countries, where wars are being fought over oil rights. Renewable energy could change all of that. No more will there be conflicts over oil rights, but everyone will be using the natural resources for their own energy process.
As a result of these governments, businesses and consumers are increasingly supporting the development of alternative energy sources. Renewable energy sources such as solar, biomass, geothermal, hydroelectric and wind power generation have emerged as potential alternatives for fossil fuels.
Most renewable energy comes either directly or indirectly from the sun. Sunlight, or solar energy as it is called, can be used directly for heating and lighting homes and other buildings, for generating electricity, and for hot water heating, solar cooling, and a variety of commercial and industrial uses.
