Research On The Effects And Causes Of Global Warming

2318 words - 9 pages

“All across the world, in every kind of environment and region known to man, increasingly dangerous weather patterns and devastating storms are abruptly putting an end to the long-running debate over whether or not climate change is real. Not only is it real, it's here, and its effects are giving rise to a frighteningly new global phenomenon: the man-made natural disaster” (Barack Obama, April 3, 2006). What could be causing these extreme weather patterns? Scientists say that it is the gradual increase of the temperature over the entire earth. Global warming is the increase in the average temperature all over the earth. Global Warming is a major problem in the world today and is argued among all of the world leaders. I am going to talk about how the global warming crisis is being caused. Also, what the people of the world can do to stop the acceleration of the global warming. There are people in the world that believe that there is another reason why this is happening; earth is experiencing a natural cycle of evolution. Global warming is a very serious part of the world and a solution needs to be found immediately.
The greenhouse effect is the cause of global warming in the world. The greenhouse effect is a topic of discussion throughout the world; it needs to be contained immediately. “Our effect on the environment, and in particular on climate change, is large and growing” (Tony Blair) The greenhouse effect is when sunlight and solar radiation enters the atmosphere and hits the earth and bounces back, but with the greenhouse effect it then goes back up into the atmosphere and is

deflected back down and trapped in the atmosphere (Energy and the Environment). While the solar radiation is trapped in the atmosphere it heats the earth’s surface. The people of the world over the years have emitted external gases into the atmosphere called greenhouse gases. With these extra gases in the atmosphere, more solar radiation is captured and reflected back down to the earth’s surface (Energy and the Environment). This is the problem that the world has made and now we need to find the solution to this.
There are many gases that are emitted into the atmosphere that implicate the acceleration and poutiness of the greenhouse effect. These gases are called the greenhouse gases; they are all a natural part of the atmosphere, but because of human interaction they are increasing drastically. They are: carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane, nitrous oxide, hydro fluorocarbons, per fluorocarbon, and sulfur hexafluoride, these seven gases are aiding in the acceleration of global warming (Energy and the Environment). Carbon dioxide is a gas made up of one carbon and two oxygen atoms; when infrared radiation enters the molecule it begins to shake rapidly thus shooting radiation back out towards the earth (The Greenhouse Effect). When this occurs the molecule is empty again and is allowed to have another greenhouse gas emitted into it; this cycle is called the...

The Causes and Consequences of Global Warming

859 words - 3 pages scientists have found out that to help the natural effects, greenhouse gases are also making the earth warm. These gases are creating carbon-dioxide; therefor making the air warmer also. The main natural cause for global warming is volcanoes, but also the sun’s brightness also has an effect. The warmth of the sun when at its highest point causes the troposphere and stratosphere to get warmer. The heat of the sun is absorbed into the earth and

Global warming has caused polar bears to stay on land an around 30 days longer than usual (Barcus 2013). The consequence of them staying on land longer is that their body weight drops around two pounds each day they stay on land as opposed to on ice (Barcus 2013). Some polar
