Lowering drinking age has been one of the most controversial issues. It’s no secret that Americans drinks alcohol before the age of twenty-one. American’s does many other things under the age of twenty-one, but why alcohol the most talked about? The drinking age should be lowered to a younger age due to the fact that at age eighteen American’s can vote, join the military, and is considered an adult.
“The 26th Amendment lowered the voting age from twenty-one to eighteen, allowing millions of young people to participate actively in the democratic process and to have a powerful voice in shaping their political future.” Being able to vote is a huge power. Being able to vote gives many Americans the opportunity to say what happens in their country. Americans also gets to choose who to put in and who to take out of office. Furthermore, voting is important because American’s wants to be involved in what is going to affect them and their families. In conclusion, voting is one of the most important rights and responsibilities that a U.S. citizen have. If the voting age changed from twenty-one to age eighteen in 1971; why can’t the drinking age changed from twenty-one to age eighteen? If American’s are old enough at age eighteen to vote for or against discussions, debates, or election campaigns then American’s are old enough at age eighteen to consume alcohol.
“When a solider takes his or her Oath to enlistment, they pledge to protect and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Solider fights to protect his or her own country. They fight for the freedom of everyone in the United States. Soldiers don’t want to kill, but has to in order to keep each and every one of us alive. A soldier has huge responsibities but enjoys what they do. Soldiers must be willing to give his or her all. They must be willing to crawl through mud in the different temperateness at all times of the night. Consequently, their overworked and underpaid.
