United States of America has had many important presidents who have fought for defending the United States. But there is one president who is considered one of the most controversial presidents, he was Richard Nixon, the 37th president of the United States and he was anti-communist; Richard Nixon was born on January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California. He had other four brothers, of whom, he was the second. His parents were Francis and Hannah Nixon. When Nixon graduated from High School, he went to Whittier College, in Whittier, California. After finishing college, he decided to major in law and he received scholarships to attend the Duke University Law School; he graduated and received his degree in law in 1937. Then, R. Nixon started working at a law firm in the same city and there, he met his wife, Thelma Ryan. They married on June 21, 1940.

After many years, Republicans from California persuaded Nixon to run as candidate for the United States House of Representatives. Although the campaign of Nixon was aggressive for accusing his rival Jerry Voorhis for being communist, he won the elections. After winning the elections, Nixon gained considerable experience while serving an organization which helped the “European Recovery Program.”

Richard Nixon was responsible for many tragedies such as: Vietnam War and Watergate.
About the Vietnam War, Richard Nixon ran as candidate to be president in 1968 by saying he could end the war with Vietnam and be in peace; but that did not happen. According to Wikipedia, “When Nixon took office, about 300 American soldiers were dying each week in Vietnam,and the war was broadly unpopular in the United States, with violent protests against the war ongoing. The Johnson administration had agreed to suspend bombing in exchange for negotiations without preconditions, but this agreement never fully took force.” (Wikipedia, para. 46)
