Right to Bear Arms
Gun control, a big deal in today’s society some people say that we should drop the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. That is not the American way to do things you just cannot change the law because some people think guns kill people but they do not people kill people.
Guns are a very big issue in today’s society. They have caused a huge uproar between the government and the people of the United States and it is time for a change now. Many people now days own a firearm. Statistics show that about 45% of people have them in their household for protection (Agrestie and Smith). Today the world has got more and more dangerous for the everyday citizen for many different reasons like house robberies, muggings, and people using self-defense.
“A 1993 nationwide survey of 4,977 households found that over the previous five years, at least 3.5% of households had members who had used a gun "for self-protection or for the protection of property at home, ...view middle of the document...
The applicants must be of the age of 21 to even apply for the concealed weapons permit (USA Carry).
The right of owning your own gun is quickly disappearing in our country. People have handguns, rifles, shotguns, and assault rifles present. Statistics show that in pass surveys and research that they banned, the right to owning a handgun, the murder rates skyrocketed to the highest they were ever at, but when they passed the trigger lock down law and gave the people back their guns the murder count dropped low and fast (Agresti and Smith). The survey showed us that we do need our weapons for self-defense so we may protect ourselves from the criminals in our country.
In the our countries constitution, it states that the Second Amendment “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”(LII). The amendment means that if you are a citizen of a Free State in the United States of America you have the right to bear arms. Removing the Second Amendment away would mean the government would have to take away an amendment. Getting rid of an amendment is not right. They are set in stone laws that cannot and should not be changed because they are what America was built on.
Revoking our weapons in our country is not going to solve any problems that we have, it is just going to set an uproar in our country like it has. Guns do not kill people, if you leave a gun alone and do not touch it, it is not going to hurt or kill anyone the only way it is going to hurt someone is if some irresponsible person picks it up and makes it go off. It is the people in this country that have made a gun such a feared object. The country of the United States was founded on guns. without guns we would not be as far as we are now. We need them for protection and safety. Without them no one knows where we would be at. Keeping guns in our peoples hands is something we need to do for ourselves. It is how this country was built and how it should stay.
