School Uniforms Are The Way To Go!

1056 words - 5 pages

Dress code in schools has always been a problem because students somehow find it hard to follow the rules on what they can or cannot wear to school. While clothing is a relatively minor issue when it comes to education, wearing uniforms does seem to improve an educational environment. Therefore, I firmly believe that uniforms should be enforced upon students from elementary to high school. I support the idea that school uniforms are the way to go. There are several reasons for that. The uniform dress code has helped make private, public and parochial schools more prestigious for their organization. With all students wearing similar clothing, students will realize they are not at school to show off their clothes, but to get an education. They can take pride in their school, not in their clothing. With uniforms,it is a proven fact that students improve on their grades and behaviour. Their grades improve due to a more business like environment. With students wearing uniforms, they begin to feel they are achieving more and they begin to feel better about themselves. Their hardwork and dedication to their work is what makes their behaviour much better.A uniform meets widely accepted standards of modesty thus eliminating the conflicting interpretations of dress codes and the embarrassment that often is associated with "violations" of dress code.Because they are not separated by who has nicer clothing or a more expensive pair of shoes, the students begin to realize what is more important in their youth.School uniforms will help teach discipline, focus less on certain groups, and break down on economic differences. Wearing uniforms can help focus less on certain groups, because sometimes wearing a certain label on a certain piece of clothing can immediately get you labeled as part of a certain group. By wearing uniforms, nobody would be referred to as "cool" or "a loser" just because of the way they dress. People would also not tend to judge others.Instead, people will have to get to know each other based on their personality. With uniforms all the materialism and shallowness will go away as well.Uniforms can also help break down barriers of economic differences by not emphasizing on name brands to see who has what designer or who is wearing the latest styles. Less teasing will be done on clothes because one can't tell the difference between uniforms as the students will all have the same label and if worn out, torn, or even grown out of, will not be a problem because they'll be purchased yearly at a reasonable price. This will also benefit parents with a...
