My paper will be referring to Dr. Kristen Mark and Sarah H. Murrays’ article, “Gender Differences in Desire Discrepancy as a Predictor of Sexual and Relationship Satisfaction in a College Sample of Heterosexual Romantic Relationships”. The reason for this approach was because people were more comfortable completing a web-based survey on sensitive issues and were more likely to submit accurate information online on these types of subjects. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Board of the University of Guelph to protect the people rights during the time the research was being conducted. In addition, participants were provided unlimited amount of time to complete the survey and could opt out anytime they chose to not participate in the research anymore. The couples were also “instructed to complete the survey independently of one another but were supplied with corresponding but unique identification codes that were required to access the survey in order to keep the dyad together for analysis purposes”(203). “The Female participants’ age ranged from 18 to 37 years”, and the “male participants’ age ranged from 19 to 41 years” with men having the more amount of participants being older (203). “The measures incorporated demographic questions, including questions on age, race, religion, spirituality, and length of relationship, as well as the measures subsequently described” (204).
