Cellphones, one of the greatest and most beneficial assets to have your high school! Now most people when they first here this statement, they would think that I’m talking crazy and don’t know what I am talking about, but I’m not. There is always two sides to any situation or opinionated question. One side of this opinionated question would be that cellphones are too distracting and would never be useful for teens during school. Teens waste to much time one their phones. The other side of the opinionated question would be that we live in a technology based world now and the use of technology with the cellphone can be beneficial and very useful for high school students now days. ” If evidence of cheating, pornography or other illicit activities are found, it’s turned over to the sheriff’s office. Which one of these policies would be more beneficial to students for schooling reasons only? Also are these policies to excessive?
High School administrators that have some type of cellphone policy should have them looked at and changed. Most high school policies do not work. According to Daniel A. Domenech, The American Association of School Administrators Executive Director, suggests that the bans on cellphones don’t work. Daniel A. Domenech also states that sixty five percent of all students who responded to the Common Sense Media survey said that they use their phones at school. At high schools that ban cellphones, sixty three percent of students still use their cellphones anyway. With what Daniel A. Domenech has stated and mentioned, does it make you think about high school cellphone policies and how ineffective they are?
With cellphone bans ineffectiveness in mind, the question of what are the good things and benefits of using a cellphone in high school. The use of a cellphone in high school can be enhance learning and be beneficial. There are a lot more benefits to using a cellphone during school than there are distraction or misuses of the cellphone during school. The mindset of how a cellphone should be used in school is changing. According to an article More schools use cellphones as learning tools by Josh Higgins, USA TODAY, most teachers are becoming less in the mindset of that using cell phones are bad in school, to using them in school to help student learn. Teachers are lifting the bans and incorporating phones into their curriculum.
Also according to Daniel A. Domenech, The American Association of School Administrators Executive Director, promoters of the use of cellphones during school point out that students can take pictures of class projects to show their parents, allowing parents to be involved in group class activities and their child’s school work. They can text message missed assignments to classmates, and they can keep better classroom notes by simply recording a teacher’s lecture and snapping a picture of the board.
