Imagine a business that brings in $60 million each year ,and the people fueling that industry receive none of the revenue. These same people work 40 hours in their sport every week, these “people” are college athletes. The NCAA is the industry doing this to college athletes. This is an issue of exploitation and control by large institutions over primarily poor people, the NCAA is guiding them in directions to make money for everybody while doing everything possible to keep the players out of the money. College Athletes deserve profit because they bring in large revenue into their program, the NCAA, and they invest tons of time into their sport.

This is the only institution in America that makes this kind of money and doesn’t pay the people. The athletes must be compensated for what they do for their school.
Not only do the schools bring in huge revenue off of the athletes but the NCAA does as well. The NCAA makes billions of dollars off of TV revenue. In 2010 the NCAA and Turner Broadcasting agreed to a 14-year $10.8 billion deal for the TV rights to the NCAA’S men’s basketball tournament. This is not the only lucrative TV deal the NCAA has been apart of, one year later the NCAA agreed to a 15-year $2.5 billion deal with one of the most decorated conferences in the country, the SEC. The athletes making these type of deals still are somehow not considered to be partners with the NCAA. It is insane not to consider the NCAA a business especially when the NCAA is making over a billion dollars with deals such as these. They create so much of the revenue, so why shouldn’t they receive money from deals such as this. Head football coach at the University of South Carolina Steve Spurrier even provided his explanation for why college athletes should be paid. He said “Twenty years ago, fifty years ago, athletes got full scholarships.
