"Should Mothers-To-Be Have A Right To Abortion?"Abortion is the spontaneous or induced termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus, as stated in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. In society today the number of aborted babies each year is increasing rapidly. About 43% of women will have one, or occasionally more, abortions during their lifetime. Hospitals and clinics perform more than a million abortions per year. Abortions are obviously in great demand. But why? Every woman who chooses to have an abortion seems to have her reasons as to why she chose to, and most of the time the reasons are quite understandable. Many are related to their age, they are usually under the age of 25, their marital status, most are unmarried or are separated from their spouse or even because of their economic status, and many of them are poor. The majority of people today may gear their views against abortion, because they feel as though it is morally wrong. Yet, the question still remains, 'Should mothers to be have a right to abortion?' My answer is, yes mothers should have that right.A woman may refuse to have an abortion because she believes that it is against God's Law or words, as stated in Exodus 20 verse 13 "Thou shall not kill". A woman may also choose not to abort her child for the opposite of virtually every reason a woman might decide to terminate the pregnancy. One might say a woman should consider and know all consequences before engaging in sexual activities, and therefore she should be able to take on her responsibilities. Then again, a woman may choose to have the child because she does not believe it is morally all right to have an abortion. On the contrary, I feel as though that a pregnant woman should have the right to choose. It is her body and if a woman cannot take on such a task as motherhood, the law or any other authority shouldn't force her to. Expected mothers may choose to have an abortion for many different reasons. A mother may choose not to have her baby because the father is incapable of being responsible, and she herself may be irresponsible, thus getting pregnant in the first place. Her relationship wit the father may be in a state of arduous. A woman may also choose to have an abortion because she feels that bringing another soul into this world may be considered cruel and unusual punishment. She may be dependant on her parents and fully aware that she is unable to financially, mentally or socially support the child, hence that she may be too young, and not sufficiently mature to become a mother, therefore bringing the child into a world may only bring suffering and...
